Turn off Audience Expansion and the Audience Network, and keep them off
Both settings are on by default in Campaign Manager, and both push spend to accounts you never chose. Budget Savers switch them off across the campaigns you pick, current and future, and re-check every hour so a new launch with the defaults back on gets fixed before anyone notices.
Why it matters
Two defaults that drain an ABM budget
Turning them off by hand works until someone launches a new campaign with the defaults back on. Budget Savers close that gap.
Audience Expansion
Lets LinkedIn serve your ads to members who look like your audience but are not in it. On a campaign built around a target account list, that is spend on companies you never picked.
LinkedIn Audience Network
Serves your ads on third-party apps and sites instead of the LinkedIn feed. Cheaper impressions, far less engagement from the people who matter, and much harder to attribute.
Both are on by default
Every campaign created in Campaign Manager starts with both switched on. Nobody chose them, and the person launching the next campaign will not remember to switch them off.
Enforced every hour
A Budget Saver applies the setting right away and re-checks it every hour. An ad set that appears inside the scope with the default back on is corrected on the next pass.
Scope
One switch for the whole account, or only the campaigns that need it
Turn on either saver or both. All campaigns covers every ad set in the account, current and future. Specific limits the saver to the LinkedIn campaigns, ad sets or ABM campaigns you select, and a campaign in scope covers every ad set inside it, including ones added later.
- Two savers: Disable Audience Expansion and Disable LinkedIn Audience Network, on independently or together
- Scope to all campaigns, or to specific LinkedIn campaigns, ad sets and ABM campaigns
- Each saver lists the ad sets it covers and the status of its last run: applying, applied or failed
- Switching a saver off stops enforcement. Ad sets already changed stay as they are in LinkedIn
Zena and MCP
Ask Zena to switch it on, or run it from Claude
Zena can read the current Budget Saver state and turn a saver on for you from the chat. The same read and write actions are available through the ZenABM MCP server in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, and through the REST API.
- Ask which ad sets still have Audience Expansion or the Audience Network switched on
- The /budget-wasters skill, one of 15 on the MCP server, flags delivery settings that push spend off-target alongside the other leaks in the account
- Turn a saver on from the chat, from an MCP client or through the REST API
How it works
How a Budget Saver works
- 1
Pick a saver
There are two: Disable Audience Expansion and Disable LinkedIn Audience Network. Turn on either or both.
- 2
Choose the scope
All campaigns covers every ad set in the account, current and future. Specific limits the saver to the LinkedIn campaigns, ad sets or ABM campaigns you select.
- 3
Let ZenABM enforce it
The setting is applied to the in-scope ad sets right away, then re-checked every hour. A new ad set that appears inside the scope with the default back on is corrected on the next pass.
- 4
Confirm it landed
Each saver shows the ad sets it covers and the status of its last run, so you can check the change is live in LinkedIn without opening Campaign Manager.
